Meet “The Doctor”

Nick Rapley aka “Dr. Richard”

Audio Engineer, Producer, Performer

Nick began his musical journey at the age of 7. He discovered a set of his mother’s old drums in the crawlspace of his childhood home and became quickly enthralled. He began taking lessons and his interest continued to grow and expand. By age 14 he was a proficient drummer and had also begun playing guitar and bass.

With few musicians around to play with, he decided to become a one man band. It was here that his fascination with multi-track recording was born. He obtained a 4 track cassette recorder and a couple of inexpensive microphones and began to experiment.

He quickly developed a hunger for higher fidelity and graduated to an 8 track digital recorder. Shortly thereafter, he acquired his first pro tools system and the gateway to his obsession with audio equipment and great sounding music opened wide.

He went on to earn a degree in Audio Engineering at Ball State University’s state of the art David Letterman facility and furthered his experience as an intern/engineering assistant at Rax Trax Recording in Chicago.

In February of 2012, Nick moved to Brooklyn, NY to perform for a musical born at his Alma Mater that was headed to Broadway. During his time in New York, he performed with many different artists on some of the city’s most iconic stages including Radio City Music Hall and the Blue Note as well as participating in two national tours. He also opened the first iteration of “Dr. Richard’s Audio Remedies” in the living room of his Flatbush Apartment.

Recently, Nick has returned to his home town of Valparaiso to be close to his family and share his passion with the community he grew up in. His hope is to help foster a thriving musical community, giving local artists a hub to connect and help one another through education, production and the love for the craft of music.
